Flavorful and full-throttled: a well-composed, ultragenerous and yet agile red blend that showcases an excellent example of the region’s best qualities. The nose is reflective of its purplish-ruby color, with notes of black cherries, mulled strawberry and black fruits balanced by loose leaf tea, menthol and toasted roasting herb aromas. On the palate, generous helpings of black fruit flavors are joined by cherry liqueur and spiced fruit cake notes, complemented by notes of graphite, forest floor and just a touch of smoke. Plush and layered in the mouth, the tannins are well-developed and joined with no rough edges like a master carpenters work. This dense and well-built body leads to a lasting finish of red berries and spices, with just a touch of fruit skin bitterness and smoke lingering long after you put your glass down.
