As an example of what the Napa Valley region can produce, this is an outstanding entry. The deep purplish ruby red color shines in the glass, reflecting the notes of mulberry and cherry on the nose, complemented by notes of chocolate and warming spice. On the palate, more mulberry fruit is joined by plums and figs, with hints of wild herbs framing the fruity core. The tannins are nicely integrated, a tight weave that supports a long finish of fruity liqueurs and black cherry. Allow to decant for an hour to really get the most out of this bottle.
