Showy, but not over the top, the deep crimson hue of this wine belies a nose of dark blackcurrants and berry compote, seasoned with allspice, cocoa and coffee beans, cured tobacco, cedar boxes and the slightest hint of graphite. The palate is fruit-forward yet complex, with notes of red cherry and blackberry framed by notes of cardamom, nutmeg, rose petal and Herbs de Provence. Full-bodied, the firm tannin structure and balanced nature of the fruity core beget a smooth texture and a long, lingering, savory finish that will please now and for years to come.
