This is an approachable, lively and yet plush Cabernet Sauvignon, a strong showing from this storied producer. On the nose, red and black fruits are bound by woody spice: dark cherry, bright cassis and damson plums are complemented by tobacco, cedar, graphite and toasted coconut. Dense blocks of ripe dark fruit, raspberry jam and dried berry flavors combine with a subtle florality across the full-bodied palate, supported by the well-integrated tannin structure, the final piece of the puzzle. The lingering finish makes this a treat to open now but also indicates it’s suitability for years to come.
