Don’t let the bright red color fool you, this is a powerful and complex Barolo whose elements are so classically evocative of it’s terroir, you’d think that the textbooks were based on this bottle. The nose is bursting with notes of candied blue flowers and raspberry liqueur, complimented by subtle hints of menthol and a developing note of polished leather. The palate is equally complex and layered, with notes of tart cherry, just-sweet-enough strawberry and pomegranate juice, all supported by the floral roundness of rose and earl grey tea leaves spread upon a bed of crushed stones. The chalky tannin structure is well rounded and yet the finish is held taut with the contained energy of youth, marking this bottle as a perfect contender for that empty space in your wine cellar. Drink form 2027-2050.
