The richly intense, deep color in the glass compliments the nose of black currants, dark cherries, black tea, dried violets and a hint of tobacco. On the palate, more dark fruits are wrapped in herbal compliments: Cassis, blackberries and plums are cocooned in tea and tobacco leaves sprinkled with baking spice and raw cocoa, resting on a bed of freshly tilled earth. The medium-weight body is the result of an elegant three-way balance between the robust fruit notes, carefully measured acid and the well-integrated, finely grained tannins that all lead to a lingering finish of spiced dark fruits, graphite and a subtle smokiness.
